Cathay Pacific Makes Huge Spelling Mistake on its Airplane

The Hong Kong-based airline was left red-faced after realizing that the plane in question omitting the all-important letter 'F'”, meaning the huge letters actually read: “Cathay Paciic”.

The mistake was brought to the airline’s attention by travelers passing through Hong Kong International Airport, who were quick to spot the spelling fail.

Man sentence to 160-years in prison for impregnating 10-year-old girl

A 34-year-old Indiana man has been sentenced to 160 years in prison on Thursday for impregnating a 10-year-old girl, who courageously testified against him.

The 10-year-old girl took the stand in Grant County earlier this year, telling the jury that Nicholas Thrash molested her at least 15 times. She was 11 when she gave birth to her baby boy last year.

China is expected to have the most organ transplant surgeries in 2020, said Huang Jiefu, director of the China National Organ Donation and Transplantation Committee.

The number of registered volunteers for organ donation in China had neared 615,000, with 19,380 successful donation surgeries resulting in 54,956 organs transplanted as of Sept. 9 this year, according to the Third China International Organ Donation Conference that opened in Xi'an Friday.

The Central Bank of Nigeria has revoked the operating license of Skye Bank Plc with immediate effect.

Governor of Central Bank, Godwin Emefiele, disclosed this during a press briefing in Lagos on Friday.

The former Skye Bank which has been taken over by the Assets Management Corporations of Nigeria (AMCON) will now be known as Polaris Bank.

Nigerian man dies of suspected drug overdose in India

A 34-year-old man of African origin died under mysterious circumstances in his rented flat in north Delhi’s Burari where he was staying in a live-in relationship with a woman, also an African national, the police said on Wednesday.

The police suspect that the man, identified as Jim James, died of a drug overdose. However, they are waiting for the autopsy report to ascertain the exact cause of death. No foul play has been suspected.

Nigeria Lands 48th Spot on New FIFA World Ranking

Nigeria has taken a step up the FIFA Football Ranking List. In the newly released list, the Super Eagles rose to 1415 points to finish 48th in the month of September. The Super Eagles of Nigeria defeated Seychelles 3-0 on Sept. 8 to put themselves back in contention for a place at the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifier. 

This has improved Nigeria's position from 6th to the 5th best football national team in Africa. 

$60 million mysteriously disappear in Liberia

The government of Liberia says it is investigating the unexplained disappearance of two huge shipments of Liberian dollar banknotes printed abroad and brought into the country between November 2017 and August 2018.

The total amount of two shipments of banknotes that have vanished is approximately $60 million. According to media reports, the containers of the money actually left the port of the capital, Monrovia, under escort in March.

31 actors in Malaysia suffer burns after filming goes awry

Fuel that was vaporized caused burns on actors during a filming in Bandar Bukit Puchong, Selangor.

According to the Fire and Rescue Department spokesman, the film crew used petrol to ignite some wooden houses during a shoot.

However, he said, while the crew was pouring the petrol on the houses, it vaporized into the air.

FG suspends “Nigeria Air” Indefinitely

The Federal Government has suspended the planned national carrier Nigeria Air indefinitely. The Federal Government had earlier announced that it is expected to resume operation in December. 

The Minister of State, Aviation, has however announced that the national carrier has been suspended indefinitely.

The Minister took to his Twitter handle and wrote: I regret to announce that the Federal Executive Council has taken the tough decision to suspend the National Carrier Project in the interim. All commitments due will be honored. We thank the public for the support as always

More people have access to mobile phones than toilet facilities in Nigeria, UNICEF’s Chief of Water Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH), Zaid Jurji, has said.

Speaking yesterday at a two-day media dialogue on European Union (EU) Niger Delta Water Project in Port Harcourt, River State, Zaid said it is important for Nigeria to triple her investment in water sanitation and hygiene to achieve the SDG water and sanitation target of 2030.

Quoting the Nigerian Communication Commission (NCC) report released in January 2018, Zaid said 140 million Nigerians have access to telephone facilities while only 97 million have access to toilets facilities. He added that though people need a cell phone because it has improved a lot in the area of communication, hygiene is most important to environmental and human health.
