Miss New York Crowned 2019 Miss America

Miss New York, Nia Franklin

Miss New York Nia Franklin has been named the 2019 Miss America in Atlantic City, New Jersey.

Franklin, 24, wowed judges when she performed an opera song during the talent portion of the competition. A native of Brooklyn, New York, Franklin said that she wanted to promote diversity, especially within the arts.

"I just want to thank God for this, it took a lot of perseverance to get here," she said shortly after winning, also thanking her family and especially her father, who is a survivor of cancer.

Dallas officer Amber Guyger has been arrested and charged with manslaughter in the death of Botham Jean.

Dallas officer Amber Guyger who fatally shot 26-year-old Botham Jean after mistaking his apartment for her own has been arrested and charged with manslaughter, according to the Texas Rangers.

She was booked into the Kaufman County Jail.

Late Thursday evening, the off-duty Dallas officer, who was still in uniform, shot and killed Jean in his apartment after she apparently mistook his unit as her own.

Princess Eugenie’s wedding has sparked anger after it was revealed it will be even bigger than Prince Harry’s. She and fiancee Jack Brooksbank have invited more guests to St George’s Chapel in Windsor than the church will actually hold.

And it was also revealed that she has even brought in the expensive party planner David Beckham uses to help organize their wedding events which will span the whole weekend. They have asked 850 guests to their wedding - meaning staff will need to bring in extra chairs into the chapel, which seats just 800.

At least 17 killed as Plane Crashes into Lake in South Sudan

At least 17 people have died in South Sudan when a small aircraft carrying passengers from Juba International Airport to the city of Yirol crashed into a lake.

The 19-seater commercial Baby Airplane had been traveling from the capital, Juba, the minister of information for the town of Yirol, Taban Abel Aguek, told The Associated Press.

'We have not yet established full details of the airline but what we know it is a 19-seater plane coming from Juba to Yirol this morning.

When it arrived the weather was so foggy and when it tried to land it crashed into Lake Yirol adjacent to Yirol town. It's so sad. Many people on board are feared dead. We are still establishing details,” he said.

Deaf, disabled Nigerian immigrant faces deportation after 34 years in the US

A disabled Nigerian man Francis Anwana is set to be deported after 34 years in the United States.

Born and raised in Nigeria, Anwana was just 14 years old when he came to the United States on a student visa.

He was deaf, couldn't talk, and had cognitive disabilities, enrolling at the Michigan School for the Deaf in Flint. 

Now 48, Anwana lives in Detroit at an adult foster care facility, helping mow the lawns and mop the floors at a nearby church on Detroit's west side.

After he graduated and his student visa expired, several people tried to help Anwana gain citizenship. But because he no longer had a valid visa, he was ineligible to gain legal status.

Married Ghanaian pastor admits to adultery says my greatest weakness is women

Ghanaian pastor, Prophet Nigel Gaisie has admitted to committing adultery and explained that he can’t help it because women are his greatest weakness.

Prophet Nigel Gaisie, who is the leader and founder of True Fire Prophetic Ministries in Ghana, disclosed his weakness in a recent interview on Zylofon FM’s Taxi Driver show.

“My greatest weakness is women, they make advances at me all the time but, I try to remain focused,” he said.

Dallas officer enters an apartment she mistakes for hers and fatally shoots the man inside

A 26-year-old man has been killed after a Dallas police officer entered his house, thinking it was hers and shot him when she saw him inside.

According to NBC News, the incident took place late Thursday night after the officer entered the wrong apartment in her building and eventually opened fire. In a statement released by Dallas police, information suggests the officer involved called for help and told the responding officers “she entered the victim’s apartment believing that it was her own.”

Dallas Sgt. Warren Mitchell said the officer was heading home after working a full shift late on Thursday night when she mistakenly entered her neighbor, Botham Shem Jean's apartment home.

Emirates Plane quarantined in New York after After Several Reported Sick On Board

An Emirates plane was quarantined at the JFK Airport in New York after several 100 travelers fell sick.

According to CNBC, about 100 people, including crew members on Flight 203 from Dubai to New York complained they felt sick.

The plane, an Airbus A380, the world's biggest traveler plane, contained more than 500 individuals on board.

The plane was met by ambulances and medical personnel upon landing with 10 people said to be taken to the nearby Hospital for treatment.

The U.S. Customs and Border Protection said it would admit the passengers into the country once they were cleared by the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

BBC Presenter passed on 2 Days after saying Final Goodbye on Twitter

Rachael Bland, the BBC presenter who tweeted that she has two days to live has passed on.

Her husband announced her passing on her Instagram:

"Our brave, beautiful, wonderful, courageous Rachael died peacefully this morning surrounded by her close family.
We are all heartbroken and the hole she leaves in our perfect little family will never be filled.
To everyone who took an interest in her story over the last two years, downloaded the awe-inspiring You, Me and the Big C podcast or sent her messages of support, thank you from the bottom of our hearts. You’ll never know how much those messages meant to her and us.

Kanye West apologizes to Drake on Twitter after feud

Kanye West has made a move to repress the feud between himself and Drake by apologizing on Twitter. In a series of tweets on Wednesday, West addressed the clash. 

The two had been on each other for some time now, with Drake referencing Kanye in his diss track to Pusha T "Duppy Freestyle."

It has been reported that Kanye released the tale of Drake's child which Pusha T used against him in the song “The Story of Adidon."

4-Year-Old ‘Boy’ Called 999 When His Mother Collapsed

Micah Adjarkoh has gotten the attention of the world after he accomplished something not all of the 4-year-olds can. Micah went viral after a recording of him speaking to 999 operators when his mother collapsed.

The little boy and his mother, Chancelvie Ngoy were guests on UK's Channel 5 News where Chancelvie remembered the shocking moment she collapsed and Micah went after her telephone and called 999.

BBC Presenter announces she has only days to Live

Rachael Bland, 40 who is a BBC Presenter was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2016 has announced that she has only days to live. In moving tweet, she thanked everyone for their love and support.

In May 2018, Bland was told that the disease was incurable. After two months, she was told that the cancer had spread further.

In an August article, Bland said she was in a race against time to complete a memoir – For Freddie –  her 2-year old child.  

She wanted her child to know about her when he grows up. She had trusted that it'd be published before she passes.
