Apple is rolling out a new feature to share your exact location with 911

Apple is rolling out a new feature in its next iPhone software update to send emergency responders instant, exact location information in the US.  The new feature will be packaged as part of iOS 12, an iPhone software update due later this year which will calculate a caller's location based on data collected from WiFi access points, nearby cellular towers, and GPS.

iPhones will soon automatically share your location with first responders when you call 911, this will happen after a partnership between Apple and startup RapidSOS.
This announced was made by the company on Monday at the National Emergency Number Association (NEMA) conference in Nashville.

According to The Wall Street Journal RapidSOS is free for emergency response centers but is presently used by less than half nationwide. The company expects this to rise to a majority of centers by the end of the year.
